A Sweet Six

Nov 11, 2020 | Ellagram

Ella again. Oh well, today I promised to help Goo peel apples for our apple pies for Thanksgiving but I hate peeling apples so I was thinking of not doing it. But then I remembered that Grandpa Gooshey says peeling doesn’t have to be a ten it can be a six. Actually Grandpa Gooshey’s apple pie recipe is a true “6” not a ten because it includes some left behind apple skins from a “6” peeling! Goo says a 6 is always better than a 10 that never happens!

Grandpa Gooshey’s “Sweet Six” Apple Pie Recipe:

6-7 apples, 1 cup of sugar, 1/4 tsp salt,
2 Tbsp flour, 1 tsp butter, 2 tsp
cinnamon, and a little milk.

Pare and slice apples. Make sure its a six.
Sift dry ingredients together
and mix with apples.
Line pie pan with pastry (crust).
Fill with apple mixture.
Dot with butter, cover with top crust.
Brush with milk, make slits in top crust.
Bake 450 for 15 minutes,
then 350 for 45 minutes more.
Cool pie on rack!!
